New Years eve in Thailand

Barbara and I were about the only Europeans in a remote village in Thailand on New Years eve and we came across this festival.   They were releasing dozens and dozens of Chinese lanterns into the night sky.

The Old Rectory - Ulster Folk Museum

I was asked to come in to work and get dressed in period costume on Saturday , National Drawing Day,  and spent the day painting in the grounds of the museum.   Because the weather was bad I had to sit inside one of the old houses.   This was the result.

Another of the heads at Bayon

There are 51 of these extremely large carvings at the Bayon temple in Angkor Tom. Each have four head, making a total of 204 heads. Exactly why they were carved has been lost in the mists of time.

A strange mystery deep in the jungle of Cambodia.
